We picked up 2 of the DC300's in November 2006 for use in the field thru January 2007. Along with 3 batteries and 2 chargers. The over all time for each saw at maximum duty cycle in 22 to 40 degrees is around 4 out of 8 hours.

One full charge on each battery prior to the work day and can last without recharging. The longest time we logged on one charge before we had a dead cell was 12 hours.

Now on to the saw. The 1st thing we did not like was the position of the safety lever. For a large size hand it is still tough to push the lever in far enough to engage the trigger. We modified our saws with small pins to keep them ready for cutting 24/7.

The 2nd thing we noticed was the poor casting on the blade guides. Each saw seems to have a somewhat rough unclean guide line. You have to learn by trial and error on which line gets you the most accurate cuts. This saw was a great candidate for a laser line but Dewalt did not put one on it and for the asking price of the saw, a battery and the charger, it doesn't make a 5 on our star listing.

Over all this is a brute in the field! Tough and can perform fair to good framing for its accuracy in cutting. It lacks in good ergonomics for the small to large glove size hands however.

The weight is well balanced and is not to tough on the wrists when making cuts up in the air when you need to trim gable ends...

The other draw backs are its somewhat cheap plastic blade guard and lock down stud nut for the blade depth adjustment. Laying the saw down on a 2x4 can cause the lever to become loose and this is a hugh drawback for any professional carpenter.

Changing blades seems fast and the blade lock has never loosened in the field with over 2500 feet of cutting. We use a thin kerf blade on ours for longer battery life and less waste.

If you can afford the entire setup, this is a fair to good system, but with the problems we have noted in our field test can only give it a 3.75 out of 5 stars. We do give it a 5 out of 5 stars for its 100% jobsite and field dependability due to its brute force and high battery life cycle, and also for the fact that other contractors that have worked along with us have noted the fantastic blade brake this saw comes with!!

This is the most powerfull cordless saw in the field for now... But it does have some drawbacks!!
