(3-15-07) I was outside in bright sunlight, too.A burned rubber smell filled the air. The same thing happened each time I pulled the trigger. After holding the trigger for about 2 seconds, the sparks subsided a bit.This was my first purchase of a Factory-Reconditioned tool. It will be my last.The Factory Reconditioning was done in Mexico. I assume this saw will cut.I was too bummed to give it a try.I bought this tool looking for a bargain without reading the reviews on the NEW DeWalt DW369CSKR.I could have bought the new saw for $20.00 more.

I must upgrade my rating from the one star I gave it on 3-17-07. After using this saw for a couple of jobs, the sparks have diminished and the burned-rubber smell has vanished. New brushes in a powerful motor can do that I guess. The light weight of this saw combined with 15-Amp power is a nice combination. It can easily spoil a user. I think I'll keep it. And one other thing: carbon fiber is not plastic. Carbon fiber is lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. NASA uses a lot of it. In fact, the new Boeing 777 is covered in it. I guess it is okay to use in a saw.
