The blade change isn't totally intuitive so it would help if they put something like this on their packaging: "Push down black retractable blade button and push all the way forward past the detent so the button stays pushed down.Then push in the silver side button and pull blade out."
Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I used it to cut some ceiling tile and rubbed off a big section of paint on the handle near the blade; they should have nickel or chrome plated that section instead of painting it.

(More customer reviews)The product does a great job cutting many things, but can easily choke on two layers of cardboard if it's tilted sideways by a bit.When it doesn't cut, often the blade is a fraction of an inch away from what needs cutting, and it's a feed problem.Keeping it straight helps a lot on thick things, and sometimes, angling the front downwards slightly can get it to bite and go smoothly.

If you are not feeding it something at maximum thickness, and are keeping it straight, it does a fine job.

As for the safety switch, the tool is designed so that if you grab it with one hand, chances are the switch will be a bit forward of where your thumb is likely to end up.You will be a lot less likely to turn it on by mistake while grabbing it, but the trade off is that the button feels a bit forward of where you might expect it.But it's hardly a chore and stretching your thumb forward a fraction of an inch is all it takes.

The safety switch can be pressed from either side, so you can use it with your left or right hand.But if you use your left hand, you can't see the blade area and are more likely to have problems keeping the toolat the correct angle. If you are left handed, it won't be the ideal tool.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this saw for years professionally, it is a must have for the master carpenter who demands clean cuts and wants to save time on intricate cutting and scribing operations.
I have gone through a few of these over the years and am currently getting a new one.
I am surprised by the less than popular reviews, this is not meant to be used as a replacement for an electric skill saw or for heavy cutting operations like continuous rips.
This tool is best used in finish work and for special cutting operations like back cutting before sanding a scribe on a counter top for example.
I have also used it to cut out drywall in remodel work etc, saves hecka time.
This saw cuts clean and accurately it's amazing how much time you can save with this thing.
When you need a more powerful saw, use one, this saw would not be a good choice for heavy work such as riping sheets of plywood all day as it is only a 12 volt tool.
I recommend this saw to finish carpenters and cabinet installers for special cutting.
I have purchased 100's of power tools over the years and have used all the major brands of cordless and electric tools in all categories in commercial construction.
