(More customer reviews)This is a top shelf blade that's very comparable in design and performance to the industry standard of the Forrest WWII 40T.Like any high end general purpose blade, it offers versatile performance with a nice compromise of glueline ripping ability, clean crosscuts, and good performance in sheet goods.Also, like any good general purpose blade, when compared to a pure dedicated ripping blade it tends to bog and burn a bit in very thick dense woods, and leaves a bit of tearout on crosscuts and sheetgoods when compared to a good 80T crosscut blade, but counters those weaknesses with the ability to perform well enough in a variety of materials and cuts that you can use one blade for the vast majority of tasks.

It's worth noting that the kerf width is 0.111", which is thicker than a standard 3/32" (0.098") thin kerf, and thinner than a standard 1/8" (0.125") full kerf.In use, this means that it takes a wider cut than a TK requiring slightly more power, which influences how it performs in thick materials.Inversely, it takes a narrower cut than a full kerf blade which allows to cut through thick material more easily.Competitors such as the Forrest WWII, Infinity Combomax, and Ridge Carbide TS2000 are available in a choice of thin kerf or full kerf, so you can choose which is best suited for you saw and usage.It's also worth noting that this blade is manufactured in Asia, whereas the Forrest and Ridge Carbide are made in the USA.

(More customer reviews)I bought this saw and it works fine but when it comes time for replacement blades good luck finding them locally. I live in a major metro area and no one sells them. Roberts decided to use off standards blades for this saw so Lowe's and Home Depot are no resource. Home depot used to sell this saw but they no longer do and since they no longer carry the saw they no longer carry the blades. Save yourself the trouble and get a saw that has standard blades otherwise you have to order them and pay a premium.

(More customer reviews)I have purchased a couple of these blades and for the price, I was extremely surprised.The crosscut of this blade rivals a lot of the more expensive blades.I have run Forrest and Freud blades and while the Woodworker II does provide a little better cut, it is also over twice the price.........without a supplied stiffener.And look at the bright side, a good stiffener will cost you at least $20.00, and you can reuse these on any saw blade you buy in the future.
The carbide is heavy enough to survive a few sharpenings, the blade holds its edge very good, and you can (with a properly tuned fence) rip a glue line joint without any jointing.
This item is definitely worth the money in comparison to some of the others on the market.

(More customer reviews)I just recently started running the Freud Steel Demon in my DeWalt multicutter.They do a remarkably good job of cutting steel when they are sharp.Unfortunately the blades dull relatively quickly (in about the time I would use up 3-4 cheapo abrasive blades..... minimal down pressure is the key to making them last).

I wanted to make sure if there were any special requirements regarding sharpening so I contacted Freud Web Tech.

Imagine my surprise when I was informed that Freud specifically states that they are NOT to be resharpened.When I responded to Freud that this wasn't a good investment on my part (cost per cut just went through the roof) I was asked where I got the blade.

I was told that Freud does not sell these blades in the U.S. but rather that "a couple hundred" were donated to Habitat for Humanity, and it was suggested to me that they had been "lifted" from Habitats warehouse.

There are a number of sales outlets for these blades (Amazon, Ebay, specialty houses) I am just a one man shop and I bought 6 of them.Does this mean that I now own nearly 3% of the entire supply of 14" Steel Demons?

If Freud was so unhappy with these blades that they would not sell them here, why give them to a bunch of amateurs trying to do good at Habitat? Especially with the potential for serious injury in relatively unskilled hands.

The blades are about equal to the Dewalt blades in durability for the initial service life, but if they really can't be re-sharpened, they become throw aways.At $100.00 plus per blade for a throw away, I guess I will have to stick with DeWalt.

The blade gets a 2 only because of the resharpening issue.

Freud gets a zero for this whole incident.

Saves me a lot of time in comparison to cutting it by hand with a hack saw. This was the primary reason for its purchase. Stores easily and compact. (More customer reviews)I bought this same saw about a year ago at Lowes, I paid something like $150 for it.It's a great saw, really smooth and comfortable to use.Works great for cutting trim boards, but I've also used it as a chop saw to cut 2x6's, it doesn't bog down one bit when cutting larger stock.It's a little heavy, but to me that just means it's built better.It's also quiet compared to other miter saws I've used.This is definitely a great deal!I'm almost tempted to buy a second as a backup!

(More customer reviews)Forrest has a great reputation with their wood saw blades.This blade (made for non-ferrous metals) is in every way an equal.The cut on extruded aluminum is so smooth that you can run your fingers over the cut without worrying about getting a metal sliver.We have not needed to use a file to clean up any of the cuts so far.

Maybe, someday, it will wear down enough to cut as poorly as other blades...
